REBUILT TRANSMISSION SACRAMENTO

OUR REBUILT TRANSMISSIONS ARE WARRANTEED FOR 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES!

Why a rebuilt transmission instead of a brand-new transmission?

Sometimes a transmission has just worn out after too many miles. The two greatest threats to your transmission are heat and wear. Heat breaks down the fluid that lubricates the moving parts. That causes friction which is what creates most of the wear on the internal parts.

If only a few parts need to be replaced, replacing them could bring the unit back to like-new condition and add years to its service life.

There are times when "crate" unit from the factory is a less expensive option and if that's the case, we'll tell you that up front.

Some of the parts on transmissions can be accessed without actually removing it from the vehicle. Also, if the problem is an electronic component, it may be possible to replace that without "dropping" the unit out of the car or truck. Either of these remedies are the least expensive option for repairs.

Your technician will need to do a road-test and a thorough diagnostic investigation to determine if those options will work for you. That process may show that the repairs can be performed without removing the entire transmission, but if your unit is original to the vehicle, meaning that it came with it from the factory (and has had no significant work down to it other than fluid changes) that means that all the parts inside are the same age and have experienced the same amount of wear and the same exposure to heat. If all the internal transmission parts are the same age and some of them have failed, the other parts may also fail soon.

Only a careful diagnosis can determine if a rebuilt transmission or a "new" transmission is the way to go.

But what is a "new" transmission?

Frequently the "new" transmissions that most vehicle manufacturers offer are actually "factory-rebuilt" units. They are "new" in the sense that they're shipped direct from the manufacturer's factory, but they may have failed quality-assurance tests and had to be rebuilt at the factory, or returns sent back from the dealer or reseller. In either case, it's not what most people think of as being "new". Yes, they come directly from the factory, but the factory didn't make extra "new" transmissions with the intent of selling them as separate units.

A factory-rebuilt transmission uses only OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts and should be set to the tolerances of a brand-new transmission that gets shipped from the factory as part of a new car or truck.

When a top-quality transmission repair shop actually assembles a rebuilt transmission in-house, the technicians doing the work will use only parts that are ordered from the manufacturer. After each part is unpacked, inspected and cleaned and then will be set aside, ready to be installed.

When a transmission is rebuilt, the first step is to remove ("drop") the transmission from the car or truck. the next phase involves using chemicals to flush out particles of metal and debris and clean the transmission before it is rebuilt. With that having been done, all parts are inspected for wear and any worn or broken parts are replaced with new ones. All gaskets and seals are removed, the surfaces are cleaned and new gaskets and seals are installed.

During this process, the shop assembling the rebuilt transmission will check to see if there are any factory-recommended upgrades for parts or software and bring the unit up-to-date. In addition, all electrical parts will be checked and replaced if needed.

Finally, the rebuilt transmission will be re-installed in the vehicle, ready to give you years of service and miles of trouble-free travel!
